EIton John in Chichen itza

One of the advantages of living in Mexico, going to see Elton John in Chichen itza, the night of the yellow moon. it was just incredible. And it cost only $140.00 us dollars for a ticket and transportation. Even Elton commented on how awesome it was to be there. His exact words were
i have played in many amazing venues before but never have i been so honored to play at a venue like this
The venue was small, we guess maybe 7,000 people in total. the temple changed colors every time a new song came on. and even though we had the most cheapy seats, all the views were great and you were able to walk right up to the vip section, there was no one asking for tickets. a friend of mine had $600.00 dollar tickets and our view was just as good as his. Another friend walked right up to the vip section and when the announcer said please sit down, she did. Right in the third row. We liked it in the back because we could stand up and dance, and thats were all the fun people were.
The yellow moon eventually rose between the stage and the temple and it was really one of the coolest things i have ever seen. We were so into the concert by then, we stopped taking pictures.
Living in Vancouver the year before, it was impossible to get tickets to any concerts. normally they were sold out in 3 minutes and then on Craig s list for 10 times the price.
please let me know if you would like to see more pics.
my next blog will be about the free concerts at Mamitas beach in Playa del Carmen.
talk soon,
Jen

Surviving Paradise

Hi everyone, sorry i haven't written for awhile.
i wanted to write more about my whole story and how i got here and how i managed to survive as a single woman in a chauvinistic country.
i will tell more of my story, but i must say that the 15 years of running a business here have not been nearly as difficult as these last two years.
The first reason being that Palace Resorts bought the hotel that my business was in and kicked us all to the sidewalk overnight.
The second reason being the swine flue.
To this day there has still not been one confirmed case.
people died all over Brazil with the swine flue but they never stopped the flights to Brazil.
and even as i write this people are still referring to the swine flu problem here. A problem that we do not have.
The third reason is all this garbage that is continually being said on the news. This is the first thing that needs to be addressed,
To all you unfortunate people who did not come on vacation this year because of what you hear on CNN, sad for you.
Please look at a map before you pass judgment on the Mayan Riviera. We are a resort area nowhere near the border towns, nowhere near Mexico city and nowhere near Puerto Vallarta.
The only known murder that has happened in this area is the American tv producer who supposedly killed his wife in Cancun.
i understand that the whole world is going through a depression and financial woes. But the American and Canadian news agencies should say" support your country, and holiday at home this year"not trash your favorite holiday destinations with garbage of murders and drug woes.
i was in Vancouver Canada last year and it was more scary to be there with the gangs and drugs and drive by shootings.
Like anywhere in the world, people who loose their jobs and cant find new ones become desperate.
The beautiful thing about Mexico and the people who live here is we don't need a lot of money to survive. not nearly as much as you do in North America. that is why no matter how tough things become the Mexican people are still always happy, giving, and loving.
please feel free to write and ask any questions you have about coming here and i will happily answer them.

So please come and visit us.
i will be waiting to hear from you....
